This time-lapse video documents a controlled, crane-assisted removal of a hollow oak tree with approximately 30 feet of internal decay. The tree was located near a park overlooking the Potomac River at Arcturus on the Potomac. Crane assistance was used to safely manage compromised wood and surrounding site constraints while minimizing impact to the adjacent landscape and park setting.
This video highlights three field examples from Alexandria and Fort Hunt, Virginia. The first clip documents a post-storm tree evaluation in the Waynewood neighborhood following severe weather. The second clip shows removal of a dead tree on Croton Drive. The final clip documents removal of a declining ash tree affected by wood-boring insects along Fort Hunt Road near Fort Hunt Park. The final two removals were completed using crane assistance due to site constraints and tree condition.
